Peregrines

“It began in mystery, and it will end in mystery, but what a savage and beautiful country lies in between.”

The Hudson River has been frozen for much of the past month. An exciting benefit to our whole world being cold is that the birds and animals are out in force: foraging, hunting, looking for ways to stay warm and, well, alive until spring. Each morning on my walk with Luca (our dog) I see all kinds of wildlife up close: deer, rabbits, a fox once, hawks, field mice, bald eagles and yesterday, two Peregrine falcons. They were sitting in a tree overlooking the river.
